Pedestrian Accidents

Pedestrian accidents normally occur in residential/densely populated neighbourhoods (where drivers are required to take much caution) due to excessive speeding, ignoring stop signs, etc.

Pedestrians are vulnerable road users and therefore suffer severe injuries and deaths in road accidents.

The victims of pedestrian accidents can demand compensation from the assailants for damages caused by the accidents, such as medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, disabilities and damages to, or destruction of, properties, under the Article 709 of Japanese Civil Code.

They can also demand compensation from their assailants, or the owners of assailants' vehicle, for damages caused by the accidents, such as medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and disabilities and damages to, or destruction of, properties under the Article 3 of Automobile Liability Security Act.
